VOL. 52 ISSUE 35 SEPTEMBER 1, 2015 P23 The MX2 class sees a new championship leader with just two rounds left on the schedule. Honda's Tim Gajser took full advantage of a bad day for former points leader, KTM's Pauls Jonass. After Ga- jser and Jonass went 1-2 in the first moto, Jonass was caught up in a first-turn crash in the second moto, damaging his bike's front brake. He soldiered on to finish outside the top 10. Kawasaki rider Max Anstie went on to win the second moto ahead of Gajser, who now leads Jonass by 13 points. Anstie, who crashed in the first moto, ended up second overall on the day, fol- lowed by podium newcomer, Belgium's Brent Van doninck (Yamaha). CN JONNY WALKER TOPS THE WALL T he running of an all-new ex- treme enduro attracted some of off-road's finest to Northern Italy for the inaugural The Wall Extreme Enduro. KTM's Jonny Walker was back in winning form at the first running of the event held at the Metzeler Off Road Park in Pietramurata, August 30. Walker started out the day win- ning the morning qualifying race, and set the stage for a dominant performance throughout the rest of the event. Walker headed into the final race—which was held at nighttime—with the upper hand, and went on to top every special test, and the final podium ahead of Graham Jarvis and Alfredo Gomez. "The Wall has been a great event," Walker said. "It's quite a lot different to most other extreme events I race, with the multiple special test format, but starting off by winning the morn- ing race was cool. Racing two special tests—one enduro test and one motocross test made things interesting." The unique format of The Wall saw riders take on multiple special tests—off-road and moto- cross—rather than a scrambles format. World Enduro riders like Johnny Aubert, Alex Salvini and Thomas Oldrati were looking to capitalize on the more familiar format, but the advantage fell to the extreme enduro regulars, as Walker headed the field followed by the Husqvarna duo of Gra- ham Jarvis and Alfredo Gomez who rounded out the overall podium.
