Here comes another charger: E-G Marc VDS Honda's Scott Redding had qualified seventh but finished lap one 14th, feeling most uneasy with his bike. By half-distance that had changed, and he sliced through the lot of them to take a career-best sixth. Smith was over a second behind; while Iannone got ahead of the fading Aleix. Another battle for the final points: won going away at the end by Alvaro Bautista, whose Aprilia teammate Stefan Bradl had crashed out of the gang. Second Suzuki rider Maver- ick Vinales came through at the (Left) Scott Redding was the top Brit in sixth place. (Above) Nicky Hayden ended the day as the top Open class finisher in 12 th .
