VOL. 52 ISSUE 35 SEPTEMBER 1, 2015 P67 Briefly... The Monaco-based LCR team ap- peared at Silverstone with the troubled CWM finance firm's logos replaced by long-term supporter Givi; with team owner Lucio Cecchinello able to com- plete the season with his established system of obtaining sponsorship round by round. It is understood that the bulk of sponsorship money had al- ready been paid. The arrival of CWM sponsorship had enabled the former racer to expand his team to two riders, but there is a question mark over next year, leaving class rookie Jack Miller in limbo. How- ever, the Australian's contract is with HRC rather than the team, and one possibility would be a switch to the Aspar team, in place of Nicky Hayden. CWM boss Anthony Constantinou, al- ready facing trial on various financial charges, was in court two weeks ago for a preliminary hearing on six new charges of sexual assault, from three different women involved with his em- pire, set for trial in January. There is seldom a dull moment when former World 600 Supersport Importantly, the race nar- rowed the focus back onto the Yamaha pair, when Repsol Honda's defending champion Marc Marquez' distant but threat- ening comeback ended abruptly on the 13th of 20 laps of the 3.7- second all-Italian podium of the year. Lorenzo was close in fourth, having got back past second Repsol Honda rider Dani Pe- drosa; at least saving two more points in the process. Mahindra's Pecco Bagnaia and for a while also Navarro's teammate Fabio Quartararo, until he faded with his visor misting. The Italian pair were fighting for third when Fenati fell on lap nine; and with two laps to go Antonelli was within half a second of Kornfeil. Bagnaia pushed past one more time, only to crash; and now Antonelli settled for a safe third, Kornfeil a career-best second. Miles behind, Quartararo survived in fourth after Bastianini came past then crashed. RW Honda's Livio Loi was less than two seconds behind; then John McPhee on the SaxoPrint Honda won out in a long battle with Juan- fran Guevara on the other Mapfre Mahindra. Herrera's teammate Lorenzo Dalla Porta, Efren Vazquez on the other Leopard Racing Honda and CIP Mahindra's Tatsuki Suzuki completed the top 10. Kent now has 224 points, Bastianini 154; then Fenati (126), Vazquez (116) and Oliveira (114). continued on next page
