CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R Laguna Seca There is no doubt that SCRAMP has had their turn with Laguna Seca. But let's look at current events. MotoGP moved to Cir- cuit of Americas where all three classes race. Laguna never made money with MotoGP and I was told that the track was in debt from low attendance and high cost of getting the MotoGP bikes to come. They made a decision to let it go. As for traffic problem, I am sorry, but what racetrack does not have this same issue? You're bringing tens of thousands of people into a small area. There is going to be traffic. Get over it. World Superbike attendance is not what it used to be back in the Bayliss, Colin Edwards days. You cannot use multiple events as an excuse to explain the low at- tendance. Again, only one class, where are the other classes? I remember Yamaha kicking in money to upgrade the track to get MotoGP there the first time. Perhaps SCRAMP needs to do their job and do what it takes to get MotoGP (all three classes) back and quit patting them- selves on the back for the job they did in the past. Monterey County would not be looking at someone else if all was well. Laguna, I love the track, I do not want to see the same thing happen to World Superbike that happened with MotoGP at the end of the current contract. I want MotoGP back to a real track, not Indianapolis. What is the reason for not having all the classes? It is money or facilities? Both re- quire money. Perhaps Laguna Seca needs to let someone else give it a try. Joe Edone Collin Edwards I'll bet that the interview with Collin Edwards was great. Too bad I could only read about half of it. White print with a white background. I admit I'm getting old (been reading Cycle News since 1978) but, come on; does anyone look at this before it goes to print (or whatever it is now)? Done bitching. Keep up the good work. I still miss the old print ver- sion, but I guess that's the way things work now. At least I don't have to wait a week before I get it. The 50 bucks I save every year helps pay for this Internet thing, but I still have trouble reading it while sitting—if you know what I mean. How about some tests on the new Trials bikes like you used to do? Any- way, great reading. Hopefully for another 30 years. Bruce Huff Schlachter's Grand Prix Run What a great job by Larry Lawrence on another story that could have slipped through the cracks. I especially appreciate bringing the Kevin Cameron perspective along as, many times, whoever was doing the wrenching, driving and packing is lost in the telling of what hap- pens on the track. While we revel in the racer perspective many of our own experiences align us with those mechanics that are trying to put their rider in front while doing the expenses on the "back-of- an-envelope." Wayne Koppa Fantastic to hear about Rich. I remember watching him ride at tracks on the East coast. Thanks to Larry for another great article. Dave Harhay Ryan Dungey Congrats to "The Minnesota Machine" Ryan Dungey and his KTM teammates on his third 450 outdoor championship. The guy is always speedy. Team USA will miss you at the 'Nations, but you deserve the break. Allen Harrington A well-deserved champion- ship by a truly smart and classy guy. To all those who said RD5 [Ryan Dungey] does not have "fire in his belly." He could have coasted into this championship. But he chose to ride to win. At least I don't have to wait a week before I get it."
