MARTIN AND MUSQUIN TAKE THEIR
RIVALRY TO INDIANA
STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY STEVE COX
T
here was a lot on the line at the
penultimate round of the 2015
Lucas Oil/AMA Pro Motocross
Championships at Miller Motorsports
Park in Utah. First and foremost,
there was the deciding of the 450cc
National Championship, but with the
points lead that Red Bull KTM's Ryan
Dungey had coming into Utah, it was
a bit of a foregone conclusion. The
250cc class, however, is and was
anything but that, as Dungey's team-
mate Marvin Musquin and defending
champ Jeremy Martin's championship
fight heads to the finale with only two
points between them.
The scenario for the 450cc Nation-
al Championship went like this: Lead-
ing by 79 points heading into Utah,
Dungey needed to lose four points or
less to AutoTrader.com/JGR/Toyota
Yamaha's Justin Barcia in moto one
to clinch the championship, which
meant if Barcia won the first moto,
Dungey needed to finish second.
But apparently Dungey wasn't
paying much attention to that, as he
passed Barcia for second early in
DUNGEY CLINCHES!
