top American was pleased to
share the podium with Webb and
Walker.
"I felt better this year than any
year before, but I'm kind of out
of my element compared to what
I ride in Arizona," said Robert.
"I won the first Knockout round
and I won the second one, but
in the main event I got off the
line in second behind Jonny,
but I made a couple of mistakes
on the first lap and then I did it
again in the exact same place
on lap two, and I lost quite a bit
of time that time. I was about six
minutes behind the leaders at
that point, which was tough to
make up.
"In the main event, Jonny got
most of the races that I do but
the intensity was very high,"
Walker added. "I will definitely
be back next year looking to get
the win."
Each year that Taylor Robert
comes to the TKO he is much
improved over the year before.
It's very obvious that the FMF/
KTM rider works hard at his
craft and had it not been for a
few unfortunate mistakes, he
could have just as easily been
leading the front-running three-
man pack, instead at the end
of it. However, considering that
Robert is from Arizona, which
is about as far away from the
type of terrain found at the TKO
as possible, the two-time ISDE
Walker could study them, which
turned out to be a mistake, as
that's when Webb started to pull
away and Walker was unable to do
anything about it.
"The race was good and I re-
ally enjoyed it," Walker said. "The
format is different, but I really
enjoyed it. I was second in the
final race and I pushed as hard
as I could, but I've been ill the
last couple of days and I haven't
eaten and I wasn't able to walk
the lines for the final race.
"This race was shorter than
Grant Baylor and the AmPro/N-
Fab Yamaha Team gave the TKO a
try. Baylor struggled a bit but his
teammate Jordan Ashburn got in
the top 10.
