"veterans" felt the track this
year was a little rougher
than usual, which really
tested every racer's physi-
cal conditioning.
Probably the most no-
table thing that came out
of this year's event was
that there really wasn't
one dominate rider in the
A class, as has been the
case the last few years. In
2014, it was RJ Hampshire
who was the marked man
all week, the year earlier it
was Matt Bisceglia. Before
that it was Zach Bell. In
fact, some of the fastest
lap times of the week this
year came out the B class.
Tristan Charboneau had
the fastest lap time of the
week, though, clocking
a 1:53.547 in the 450 A
class. Unfortunately for
him, however, a mechani-
cal DNF ended his hopes
of the class title.
This year's top A-class
rider and winner of the AMA
Motocross Horizon Award
(designed for the rider with
the most promise head-
ing into the pro ranks) was
Benny Bloss of Oak Grove,
Missouri. Bloss used the
combination of fast speed
and consistent riding to win
the Open Pro Sport class
with 3-1-1 moto finishes and
take third in the 450 A class
with 4-5-3 moto results. The
Yamaha/BluCru/Rock Riv-
er/CycleTrader-supported
rider said that he was a bit
surprised at how well things
turned out for him this year.
"I definitely was not
expecting it, but it feels
amazing to be added to
the list of names of people
that have been given the
award," Bloss said. "It's
crazy to think that I'm on
that list now."
Bloss made his pro debut
at the recent Unadilla Na-
tional. CN
