SUPERSPORT MOTOAMERICA AMA/FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 8 / AUGUST 7-9, 2015 INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY/INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA P96 getting up there. I finally just let it go this weekend and really wanted to ride and have fun. I think that's what I've been miss- ing the whole time." To add to the fun factor and the win, Gerloff moved up into second in the championship behind teammate Beach, five points ahead of Herrin with two races left in 2015. THE WAR It's not Beach's first champion- ship, but it was a long hard road to get another. In the grand scheme of things, five years isn't that long, but it is when you are a racer. And when those years are filled with some hard times, a half-decade can feel even couldn't be happier." All racers love a "W," but winning a closely fought battle, especially in the dry, means so much more. "Gosh, when I won at Atlanta it was awesome and it was super cool, but it just didn't feel like a real win, being in the wet," he said. Since a win at the second round of the championship in Atlanta, Gerloff has been trying everything to get back there. "After that I've just been work- ing my butt off trying to get back on the top step of the podium and it just hasn't been clicking," he said. "I've just been battling with a lot of stuff, mentally, just trying to figure out why I'm not of a second. Getting his first win in the dry— his second this season—was such a massive relief for Gerloff. It was almost hard to find the words. "Just crazy, it doesn't even feel real," Gerloff said. "Just to have it happen here at Indy right in front of the World Champion- ship, in front of the whole team and with JD [Beach] winning the championship…I've wanted that for a long time, but he definitely deserved it this year. I just have to thank my whole team for not giving up on me, for staying with me. I wasn't going to give up on them. I was giving it everything I had and it finally came to- gether here at Indianapolis. I just Beach took home the title a weekend early.
