Briefly...
bending and bending and going to
snap off, so I was just really trying
to baby it. When I came in the whole
thing was just loose."
Semi-retired Steve Rapp was mak-
ing a rare appearance aboard a Su-
perstock 1000 class Atom Racing
BMW. Rapp took ninth overall, fifth in
class on Saturday and then suffered
a crash on Sunday and remounted to
finish 10th in class.
Josh Day scored a pair of runner-up
finishes on the Yamalube/Westby
Racing Yamaha in Superstock 1000.
"The bike felt better for me today
[Sunday's race two]," Day said. "I
was pushing hard in the beginning to
try to stay with Jake [Gagne], but I
finally had to knock it down a little bit
because I was so on edge. I used a
different tire from what I have all year,
it seemed to work better later on in
the race, but it seemed to take some
time to come in and get a good feel-
ing."
Cameron Beaubier and Josh
Hayes both felt MotoAmerica offi-
cials stopped the race at the perfect
time on Sunday when the rain began
to fall harder. Roger Hayden said he
felt that they should have called the
race a lap or two earlier. "With three
laps to go I put my hand up just to let
them know so they'd be watching for
it," Hayden said. "It was raining pret-
ty good and like Cam said, whoever
was in the lead was just tippy toeing
and if you were in second it was kind
of nice because you had someone
to judge it off of. Honestly I thought
it went a little longer than it should
have, but that's the way it is."
