around and try to get in the top
10 in the points, even better if we
can. To get a couple wins would
be awesome."
A small war was taking place
as Briggs Auto/Martin Trucking's
Sammy Halbert and Crosley
Brands/Howerton Motorsports'
Bryan Smith fought over fifth
place. The position was ex-
changed several times before
Halbert was able to lock it down
over Smith's potent Kawasaki.
Wiebler Harley-Davidson's
Wyatt Maguire held off Country
Saloon/R&R Racing's Rob Pear-
son until the white flag lap when
the veteran Pearson was able to
slip by last year's Rookie of the
Year for seventh place.
Bonsey confirmed that oil
leak, but in spite of the disap-
pointment, the Californian saw it
as a shift back in the right direc-
tion after struggling all season
after the first round win.
"You can see my number plate
has a little oil on it," Bonsey said.
"It's a turnaround for us. We've
had a lot of bad luck this year. I
don't know if the win in the first
race this year was a jinx, every-
thing kind of flopped after that.
We are halfway through the sea-
son. We will just try to turn things
(Left to right) Briar Bauman, Jared
Mees and Kenny Coolbeth, Jr. stood
on top of the podium at Black Hills
