VOL. 52 ISSUE 31 AUGUST 4, 2015 P69
NEW VARIABLE AXIS SYSTEM
This new system uses a variable axis system (VAS) that
incorporates a moving pivot point, and in turn allows for the
shield to be mounted lower on the side of the helmet. Ac-
cording to Arai, this gives about 24mm more shield area above
the side cover that still allows the shield to open completely.
The VAS system allows for a smoother shell to be used along
the Snell testing line around the temple (an area that if hurt
causes major trauma to the rider), which increases this new
model's ability to glance off objects in a crash.
The shield itself is the new VSA Max-V, providing in-
creased visibility as well as coming standard with a clear
Pinlock 120 lens to eliminate fogging.
MORE AIRFLOW
The new IC Duct-5 system (on the right) is claimed to flow 11 per-
cent more air than the Corsair-V's Delta Duct-5 system. There are
new, larger switches on the vents, making them easier to use with
gloves and the Type 12 diffuser is claimed to flow 19 percent more
air than the Corsair-V thanks to being 20mm longer at the back.
