IN THE WIND P40 RISPOLI MAKES PROGRESS A merican James Rispoli earned a trip to the podium with a third- place finish in the first British Supersport race at Thruxton on August 1. As an extra bonus, the Team Traction Control Yamaha rider also set his first international pole position for Sunday's feature race. "I can't thank my team enough," Rispoli said. "We have been gain- ing momentum each race and our progress is showing we can run at the sharp end of the stick on a regular basis. We will do everything we can to continue this trend and gain valuable points." Unfortunately in race two, the American ended up on the deck and did not finish. CN James Rispoli returned to the podium at Thruxton and scored his first pole position in British Supersport. BROOKES ON A HOT STREAK M ilwaukee Yamaha's Josh Brookes continued his win- ning streak with a second suc- cessive double at the seventh round of the British Superbike Championship at Thruxton. Brookes' string of success also moved him into a 12-point lead in the points standings. "To come from a double win at Brands Hatch and have another double here is what we were searching for, but to finally achieve it means we can shout about it and I am really pleased," Brookes said. Brookes was unbeatable. The Australian took pole posi- tion, hit the front in both races, and broke the nine-year-old lap record to fully capitalize on the problems experienced by his archrival—four-time champion Shane Byrne, who fought back from a sixth row start to bring his PBM Kawasaki home in fourth place. Joining Brookes on the podium in race one was Honda Racing's Dan Linfoot and JG Speedfit Kawasaki's James Westmoreland who enjoyed his first ever podium finish in British Superbike. In race two Brookes was fired up for a repeat performance and once again took charge at the start while drama ensued behind him. Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati's John Hopkins, whose first race had ended with a tech- nical problem, crashed out of second at the Club chicane. The battle for second was fought down to the wire between Byrne and Quattro Plant Bour- nemouth's Luke Mossey, with the defending champion taking the marginal edge at the line and Mossey taking his first ever Brit- ish Superbike podium finish.
