P108 40 Years Ago August 12, 1975 Our feature story 40 years ago was our coverage of the Monterey Superbike International at Laguna Seca, where Kenny Roberts took the win. He got a little help when Yvon DuHamel crashed while enjoying a 10-second lead… Tony DiStefano (250cc) and Marty Smith (125cc) finished off the Inter-AMA National MX Series with victories in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia, where they each clinched the titles in their respective class… Cordis Brooks won yet again in the California desert. 30 Years Ago August 14, 1985 Frenchman Jacky Vimond was featured on the cover of Cycle News 30 years ago to accompany our interview with the MXGP star. At the time, he was leading the 250 World Motocross Championship… We covered the GNC/Camel Pro Series and Mid-Ohio, where Mike Baldwin clinched the Formula One title for Honda; Wayne Rainey won Formula Two… Land-speed records were on the line at Bonneville and we were there to see it all go down… We were also at the All British Motorcycle Run in California where 350 riders showed off their British steel. 10 Years Ago August 10, 2005 Cover boy Doug Henry was leaned over and hauling en route to victory at the AMA Supermoto National in Shawano, Wisconsin. It was his third victory of the year… Our Chat Room section featured a young Ryan Villopoto and was titled "The Next Big Thing"… We covered Valentino Rossi's historic victory at Hochenstein… Washougal wasn't one of Ricky Carmichael's favorite tracks but he made it through the day and recorded his 23 rd straight overall win in the 250 class. After winning his first 125 outdoor National the week before, Ivan Tedesco backed it up with the overall 125-class win… Joe Kopp won the Hagerstown Half Mile. Fellow Kawasaki rider Robbie Reynard ran off with double-moto wins in the 125cc class… Scott Parker came from behind to win the Oklahoma City Half Mile over Mike Hacker; it was Parker's 64 th career win… We took a close-up look at what made vintage racing's Team Obsolete tick… Alan Cathcart tested the Paton 500 Bicilinrica road racer… We also cover the Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio.
