LONG TERM KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R

WORKIN'
THE BRAKES
Not long after I started
testing the Super Duke
the front discs started
to warp. It was only
noticeable at low speeds
but enough to drive me
mental after a month
of knowing what the
issue was. So on went
these trick Braking Wave discs at
the front (the rear wasn't in stock).
These babies give a claimed 25
percent increase in brake power
as well as looking mean as hell,
so combined with the new 'pads
they should work great. They are
taking their time to bed-in and I'm
expecting them to be better after a
couple of hundred miles or so, but
as of now they already feel more
powerful than the standard brakes.
One of the highly annoying
things of the Super Duke is having
to turn your ABS and TC off each
time you kill the ignition or turn the
key off. So to that end we have an
ABS dongle to be fitted when we go
to the track (it's not legal for
the street). That way our settings
are saved each time we turn the
bike off.

WHAT'S IN
STORE?
Now that we've fitted
some comfort bits,
we'll be looking further
into the Power Parts
catalog and seeing
what performance
we can get out of it.
I'm envisioning some
rearsets, maybe the
race triple clamp
set, a few more bling
bits, passenger seat
cover… It's a (hopefully)
never-ending list! We'll
be having some fun in
the Willy Wonka KTM
factory this year!
