FEATURE LONG TERM KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R P70 STAGE ONE // FIRST SERVICE, PIPE, DISCS, BAGS AND GRAPHICS Going through the KTM Power Parts catalog and knowing you can have any part you desire is an exercise in supreme self control. I could, so very, very easily, just throw every single shiny, flashy, go-faster bit and bob in the book at the Super Duke and not think twice about it, but that'd make for a pretty short story. So for Stage One we're going down the touring route, before going in totally the opposite direction and making this the angriest machine on the road today. First, we dropped the oil and gave it a gut full of Motorex 10/50W, plus a new oil filter. That will get us sorted out for at least the next 5000 miles, but I'll be dumping the oil every 3000 at most due to my pedantic nature. But then, we got sucked into the add-ons. GEARING UP! Seems a little weird to put bags on a Super Duke at first, but considering this is first and foremost a commuter it makes perfect sense. These things now give the Super Duke a total of 9.5 gallons worth of storage space it didn't have before, meaning trips away for the weekend are now a distinct possibility. Even though the bags seem to protrude a fair way, they don't impede the passenger's leg room too much, so these will be staying until we hit the track.
