O
K—bastard moment. I get to ride a lot of cool
bikes in this job, and the more I ride, the
pickier I get. So when I got off my first ride
on the KTM Super Duke 1290 R for the road test
that was published here, it wasn't the clichéd case
of "having to have one," more of "I really, really, re-
ally have to have one".
The Super Duke is the first bike that's actually
fits my awkward physique—the 'pegs are low, the
bar is high and the power even higher. Plus, I've
got a bit of love for big nakedbikes these days
after racing an aging FZ-01 last year, so the pos-
sibility to make an extended series of black lines
across a 12 month period with a rather exotic
Austrian was too good to pass up.
However, not being of great financial means
precipitated a phone call to KTM North America,
whereby I laid out a plan to show all the great

BEAST!
