Wednesday or Thursday so the
mechanic's could prepare them
for lcal conditions and the riders
could ride the practice areas to
become accustom to the local
terrain. However, the bikes didn't
arrive until nearly 5 p.m. Friday
afternoon, which made things
tough on the tuners and team
managers.
DAY ONE
After losing three-straight events
to rival Adam Raga, Bou was
in bad need of a win to confirm
his status atop the series stand-
ings and the Repsol Honda rider
ended his dry streak by taking a
dominating victory on Saturday.
With mild weather and clear
skies, the sections were in good
conditions to start the event after
the rain that had fallen the night
before, however, the sections
deteriorated in later laps as
moisture was dragged up onto
the rocks.
Keeping with their yearlong
theme, Bou and Raga locked
horns in a head-to-head battle as
loop one began, both riders go-
ing clean through the first three
sections.
In section four, things started
to change. Raga slid his Gas
Gas off the side of the exit rock
and was penalized the maximum
of five points, while Bou man-
aged to go clean in the section.
The tables were turned on
Bou in section six, though, as
his minder made a mistake and
grabbed Bou's bike on a difficult
Adam Raga
gave it his best
shot but was
no match for
Bou. Raga had
to settle for
second both
days.
