Aprilia Red Devils Roma's
Jordi Torres and Davies' team-
mate Giugliano were in a strong
fight in race one, while Leon
Haslam on the other Aprilia Red
Devils Roma machine ended up
in a fight with Pata Honda's Syl-
vain Guintoli. Ultimately Haslam
crashed after a finding a lack
of pace compared to what he
expected on race day.
Davies had set the best lap
of race one, a 1:23.739, on
lap five, just shy of the existing
lap record from the recent full
power era.
Rea had his first real attempt
at a pass Sykes on lap 16, and
made a couple more, but on
the very last lap he was just too
far behind to try and get Sykes
before the line and settled for
third placeāhis 'worst' finish

his remarkable first Kawasaki

Alex Lowes is rapidly approaching
the final sector of the 2015 season,
but with so many unknowns for him
and his current Voltcom Crescent
Suzuki team, he has not got any
plans for 2016 sorted yet. "As far
as next year is concerned I do not
know anything," Lowes said. "I have
had my manger Neil Hodgson on
the case trying to speak to people

list. All I know is if I was on as good
a bike as any of them I would go as
fast as anyone else. It is all right me
knowing that, I need someone else
to know that and give me an opportu-
nity, but that is another kettle of fish."
Reigning champion Sylvain Guin-
toli was optimistic about the second
half of his season at Laguna, and he
overcame a crash to go ninth in Su-
perpole. "Hopefully we can improve
and be part of the battle in the front.
We are working on different fronts.
We are talking about half a second
so we need to make it click a bit bet-
ter."
MotoGP legends were well out in
force at Laguna with Kevin Schwantz,
Randy Mamola and MotoAmerica
President Wayne Rainey all at La-
guna in different capacities. Former
MotoGP champs Kenny Roberts Jr.
and Nicky Hayden were also present
as well. Doug Polen, an undisputed
all-time World Superbike great was
also there, taking part in interviews
in front of the fans in the paddock
show area.
Randy Mamola gave his opinion
of World Superbike at Laguna Seca
when asked, but saw a bright future
