Could this bet the 2017 Honda CRF450R? If so,
it has dual cams and electric starting.
2017 HONDA CRF450R?
A
prototype Honda CRF450R was put to the
test at the All-Japan MX round in Japan re-
cently. The All-Japan MX Series is often used as a
testing ground for future production Japanese MX
models—could this be a preview of what might be
coming from Honda in 2017? Probably.
The current production CRF450R is due for a
big overhaul, so what we see here could very well
be a close representation of the 2017 production
model. This prototype appears to be significantly
different than the current production CRF450R.
The engine cases look different, as well as the
area around the cylinder head. It appears that
Honda is doing away with its Unicam valvetrain
for a dual-cam design. It also has electric starting
while retaining a manual kick lever. It still retains a
dual muffler.
The frame and swingarm appear to be signifi-
cantly changed as does the placement of the rear
shock. CN
