IN THE WIND P44 VAILLANCOURT REMEMBERED O n Sunday, August 2, 2015 there will be a Celebration of Life for Gilles Vaillan- court, the founder/owner of Works Perfor- mance Shocks, who passed away on June 2. The event is from 1:30 to 5:30 pm and all who knew Gilles are welcome to come share their memories of the 2013 AMA Hall of Fame inductee. The address is 6543 Corbin Ave Wood- land Hills, CA 91367. Giles widowed wife, Debbie, asks that those planning to attend contact her via an RSVP to Gilles Facebook page as soon as possible, so that she can plan accordingly. A prototype Honda CRF450R was put to the test at the All-Japan MX round in Japan re- cently. The All-Japan MX Series is often used as a testing ground for future production Japanese MX models—could this be a preview of what might be coming from Honda in 2017? Probably. The current production CRF450R is due for a big overhaul, so what we see here could very well be a close representation of the 2017 production model. This prototype appears to be significantly different than the current production CRF450R. The engine cases look different, as well as the area around the cylinder head. It appears that Honda is doing away with its Unicam valvetrain for a dual-cam design. It also has electric starting while retaining a manual kick lever. It still retains a dual muffler. The frame and swingarm appear to be signifi- cantly changed as does the placement of the rear shock. CN PHOTOGRAPHY BY MASANORI INAGAKI/ANIMAL HOUSE
