CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "Parents can't afford to build framers to see if their kid is going to like flat track racing." Tragedy At Laguna Motorcycle racing is a sport where you put your life in the balance from the moment the green flag comes down until you pass the checkered flag. It is an inebriating experience for the racer from start to end. May Bernat Martinez and Daniel Rivas rest in peace along with their companions. Pierre Chevrier Any time there is accident with a loss of life there is sadness among the community and a new respect for what we all love doing. God bless both of the riders and their families. Sorry to hear of this tragedy. Michael Martin What horrific news. We watched the race on live streaming and the cameras showed mainly the aftermath where it appeared four or five bikes got tangled up right after the start heading over the top of the hill in turn one. We saw ambulances rolling during the long red flag, but I don't recall hearing anything about the severity of the injuries. Such a tragedy to lose any racer in any circumstances but to lose two in one crash and for both of them to come from Spain to race in our series makes it all the worse. My thoughts go out to their fami- lies, friends and fans and to our new MotoAmerica series for suffering such a horrible loss. Lance Holst Archives And Short Track They should have never let Harley Davidson push the 600 Rotax framers out to bring in their 883 Sportster (boat an- chor ) and promote it as an out- of-the-box flat track bike (stock frame, electric start, D.O.T. tires, etc,)—what a joke. The Rotax-powered framers worked good on all types of tracks and put on a good show with competitive lap times. Now H-D is, once again, trying to pass another one of their street bikes off as a racer. Flat track motorcycle racing would have died a long time ago if not for the renewed interest in the sport that DTX bikes have brought. Parents can't afford to build framers to see if their kid is going to like flat track racing. I would like to see 600 sin- gle framers for the GNC2s on all tracks; 600 single framers on the short tracks and TTs; and twins on the half-mile and miles for GNC1. The DTX bikes have their place to bring new riders into the sport. Without new riders you have no sport! Mark Coffman Bring back a Class C environ- ment. It was Sportsters which rocked Peoria, along with BSA Hornets. Many Open-classes at KMSA short tracks were won by smaller bikes, beating the likes of Kenny Pressgrove, but changing rules means nothing if there are no tracks to race. In my racing days I could find a flat track within a few hours of KC every week. There hasn't been one in the area for almost six years now. Ernie Henderson Steve Menneto Interview So Indian is going to go flat track racing. That excites me! Steve Pline 2016 BMW S 1000 XR Good write up. Also good to see you test in the rain. Just like an English summer. Doug Young P16 Got An Opinion? If you've got an opinion on something you've read in Cycle News.
