MEO, BELLINO AND REMES
DOMINATE IN BELGIUM
T
he Maxxis FIM Enduro World
Championship headed to Bel-
gium for the penultimate stop of
the series, where Antoine Meo,
Mathias Bellino and Eero Remes
all celebrated double victories at
the Grand Prix of Belgium.
Riders battled dusty condi-
tions in St. Hubert until the
final lap of the day on Sunday,
when the skies opened up and
dumped a heavy rain on the
event. The rain effectively turned
the tables in the E1 division,
where Christophe Nambotin led
the way on day two ahead of day
one winner Remes. Although
Remes wasn't far off the pace,
Nambotin maintained the lead
up until the last test. But a crash
handed the win (and possibly
the championship) to Remes,
who celebrated a sweep of the
weekend.
"After having trouble with my
wrist in Italy, I wanted to come
back fighting here in Belgium
and I have been able to do
exactly that," commented the
TM Factory rider. "I now have a
healthy 24-point lead heading
into the final round in France."
Bel-Ray Husqvarna's Mathias
Bellino made a marked return
to dominance in the E3 (open)
ranks. After surrendering a
double victory to Factory KTM's
Matt Phillips at the previous
round in Italy, Bellino bounced
back and captured a dominant
pair of wins in Belgium. Phillips
was left to battle with Sherco-
mounted Matti Seistola for run-
ner up honors.
The tight battle between Pela
Renet and Antoine Meo in the
E2 division came to a screech-
ing halt in Belgium. Renet's
weekend met an unfortunate
end when the Frenchman
