250 NATIONAL
Defending 250 champ Jeremy
Martin went into RedBud with a
10-point deficit in the standings,
but after a very eventful race, he
left town with a seven-point lead,
which amounts to a 17-point
swing in the title chase.
Martin's Yamalube/Star
Racing/Yamaha teammate was
perhaps the fastest man on the
track, but a crash late in the
second moto cost Webb the
overall win and opened the door
for Martin to take a 1-1 sweep
and his fourth overall victory of
the season.
LaRocco's Leap played a big
part in the 250 race, with most
of the top riders making the
jump only about 50 percent of
the time.
Former points leader, Red
Bull KTM's Marvin Musquin had
both out with injury. The Swed-
ish rider collected his best ca-
reer finish with a seventh overall,
which came less than 24 hours
before he is scheduled to marry
his fiancé in Ohio, providing
Noren with a larger than normal
cheering section with family and
friends in the States for the oc-
casion.
Noren bounced back in a big
way after last week's 15th-place
result, showing off his speed
in both motos. In the opening
moto, he started outside the
top-10 and used most of the
moto to make his charge to
finish seventh. In moto two, he
got a better start and battled the
rough and deteriorating track to
finish eighth. The 7-8 moto result
placed him seventh overall, beat-
ing his previous career best of
eighth overall.
Johns Broc Tickle and Peick
finished fourth and fifth, re-
spectively, with Tickle making
a last-lap pass on the Yamaha
rider in the first moto to secure
fourth. In the second moto, the
two riders would encounter each
other again, but this time Peick
was able to hold off Tickle to fin-
ish sixth. However, Tickle's 4-7
edged Peick's 5-6 in the overall
results.
