IN THE WIND P30 NOYES INJURED, MORALES WINS AT MOTORLAND ARAGON C urrent FIM/CEV Repsol Superbike European Cham- pion, American Kenny Noyes suffered a head injury and has been placed in an induced coma following an accident during warm-up at Motorland Aragon in Spain on July 5. According to reports, Noyes lost control of his Kawasaki ZX- 10R and hit a trackside barrier with his machine striking him moments later. He was taken to a hospital in Zaragoza where doctors induced the coma. The latest update from the family is that his scans today (July 6) were very positive and doctors were lowering his medi- cation to bring him out of the coma tomorrow (July 7). Noyes had qualified fourth behind pole sitter Dani Rivas, Carmelo Morales and Ivan Silva before the crash. Morales would go on to take the race victory from Rivas and Morales, the Motorland Aragon event providing the 100th race start for the CEV Champion- ship since its inception in 2002. Rivas led from pole until Morales took over early on, stretching his advantage to 3.5-seconds at the flag. Rivas held on for second with Silva taking third. Robertino Pietri took fourth with Adrian Bon- astre rounding out the top five. WORSE THAN US I f you were pretty miffed that the Honda RC213V-S sport- bike made just over 100 hp in its U.S.-specification, spare a thought for our buddies to the east. In a little section on the dedicated Japanese website (http://www.rc213v-s.com/ spec/spec_jp.html) for the MotoGP replica machine, Hon- da states the Japanese-spec machine makes a staggering 70 hp! Based off the U.S. price of $184,000, that means Japanese riders are paying $2628 per horsepower! The numbers therefore mean the ultra-exotic machine will be pumping out substan- tially less power than the company's CBR600RR. However, unlike us here in the U.S., Japanese riders will be able to purchase the track- only package, meaning you can boost the output of your super limited-edition RC213V- S up to the more befitting number of 215 hp.
