P130 40 Years Ago July 15, 1975 Local motocrosser Nancy Thomas was featured on the cover of Cycle News 40 years ago… Our feature story, however, was our coverage of the 125cc United States Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio. Marty Smith and Honda were the big winners. Yoshifumo Sugio and Gilbert DeRoover rounded out the podium, and Mark Blackwell won the 500cc Support class… Scott Brelsford made his- tory by piloting his Irv Kanemoto-prepped Kawasaki triple to victory at the AMA Regional Championship Stockton Mile. It was the first win for a two-stroke in AMA Expert class mile track competition. 30 Years Ago July 17, 1985 Randy Mamola was pictured on the cover to accompany our interview with the GP contender… We traveled to Buchanan, Michigan, to cover the RedBud National Motocross, where Ron Lechien, Rick Johnson and Broc Glover came away with the wins in the 125, 250 and 500cc classes, respec- tively… We also had coverage of the Dutch TT won by Randy Mamola… Brian Myserscough won a thrilling battle with Jim Holley to win the CMC- run Honolulu Supercross… Homeboy Ross Pederson took top honors at the Toronto Supercross. 10 Years Ago July 13, 2005 We traveled to Pennsylvania to ride KTM's new line of XC off-road bikes, as well as race one in the Wisp GNCC… Ricky Carmichael had a battle on his hands but he still came away with the win over Kevin Windham at the RedBud National MX. Grant Langston won the 125cc class… Kenny Coolbeth won the Lake Odessa Half Mile… We interviewed James Stewart and talked about his first year on the National MX circuit in the 250cc class… We also interview AMA Superbike racer Neil Hodgson. He was 32 years old… Steve Lamson and Jeremy McGrath were the big winners at the RedBud National Motocross in Michigan… Mike Healey and Ty Davis were the stars at the Mammoth Mountain Motocross… Stefan Everts shined at home in Belgium at the Motocross Grand Prix, where he won both motos.
