>>BACK TO BACK WINS FOR ZARCO
The scheduled 22-lapper didn't
even make one. A tangle in the first
corner sent Luis Salom's Paginas
Amarillas Kalex looping to a fiery land-
ing, and left oil on the track. Red flag,
frantic scrubbing, and a restart for a
relative sprint race.
It was two-race winner Jonas Fol-
ger on the AGR Kalex away first, and
he had a good attempt at running way
again—as at Jerez—as E-G 0,0 Marc
VDS Kalex' Tito Rabat, Ajo Kalex'
Johann Zarco and Federal Oil Kalex'
Xavier Simeon dropped to more than a
second behind after five laps.
Zarco's first attack on Rabat had by
then gone wrong, and he was behind
Simeon; with front-row starter, Speed
Up's Sam Lowes, tagged on his back
wheel.
One lap later Zarco and Lowes
were both past Simeon, and Rabat,
with a clear track, had closed right up
on the leader.
Rabat took to the front at the end of
lap seven; and Folger would continue to
drop as Zarco and Lowes both got past.
Zarco caught the leader, and on
lap 14 made a clear and authoritative
pass, thereafter gaining enough of a
gap to secure his second win in a row
(third this year) by less than a second.
Lowes was another second-and-a-
bit behind, happy to be the best non-
Kalex on a day when "nobody else
could stay with those guys ahead."
The battle for fourth had slimmed
down to four riders by the end, with
Alex Rins on the Paginas Amarillas
The crowd looks on
as Marc Marquez (93)
and Valentino Rossi
(46) make contact in
the chicane before
the finish.
