T
he battle for top honors in the
MotoAmerica Supersport class
has been a knock-down-drag-
out fight for most of the season. That
changed at Miller Motorsports Park,
as Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yama-
ha's JD Beach separated himself from
the pack and put on a masterclass
performance to take home the dou-
ble, his seventh win of the season.
That seventh win, combined with
some bad luck in race two for cham-
pionship rival Josh Herrin, gave
Beach a nice 44-point cushion in the
title chase with four races left in the
season.
BEACH'S BLISTERING PACE
Beach was unstoppable at Miller. He
not only set pole, he went out in race
one, took the lead and proceeded to
lay down consistent 1:53s, a pace no
one could match in duration.
In case anyone was wondering if he
could keep up the pace in race two,
he did and in a more dominant fash-
ion, crossing the line 9.979 seconds
ahead of the competition.
"It wasn't too bad," Beach said
about being able to throw down the
1:53s after race two. "I was doing
them yesterday, too. I know Camer-
on's [Beaubier] lap here was a 53.2,
I think, so I knew it was possible to
do it. I just felt like I had a really good
rhythm this weekend. The track came
to me. I just was feeling really good."
So what was with Beach this week-
end? Was it something about Miller
that the rest were struggling with? Or
was he just faster? It was something
that the Wheels In Motion/Motors-
port.com/Meen Yamaha rider was
wondering.
"I knew going in yesterday, that
