"Definitely it was a good week- end, closing up on the points like that," Knapp said. "That's the ultimate goal is looking at the championship. Unfortunately I got kind of by myself out there and had no one to race with. Maybe I rode a little too conser- vative, but all in all, we'll take the points." Aprilia HSBK Racing's Sheri- dan Morais also had a pair of podiums (3-2) and continues to improve with four races under his belt on the new Aprilia. "Like I said after the first one [race] we need to always im- prove and I reckon we probably improved about 10 seconds overall from race to race so that's a good improvement," Mo- rais said. "Just working on that chatter and we got it definitely in the right direction. At least we know which way to go to im- prove it some more." THE REMATCH The question remains—will the pendulum swing back Beau- bier's way in three-weeks time at the next round at Mazda Race- way Laguna Seca? The North- ern Californian has home field advantage and looks forward to it. Hayes has done well there too and has a history of coming on strong for the home stretch in a championship. Many look at Beaubier to be America's next great export to the World Championship. The road there goes through Hayes. CN Superbike Race One: 1. Josh Hayes (Yam) 2. Cameron Beaubier (Yam) 3.
