INTERVIEW
MAX BIAGGI

fit. It just keeps my mind fresh.
"Of course one of the ingredi-
ents on the motorcycle is to be
fit, but the other is also to be fast
on the bike, to still remember the
automatism of the motorcycle
and what you need to go fast.
This is not so easy because you
do not refresh your mind every
week or two weeks, but after
three years. Almost 1000 days
without doing that, and the race
weekend, and it makes a lot of
difficulties for the guys who want
to go back."
For Biaggi, who had racing as
the center of his life for so long,
there was constant attention
from media and fans. Was that
an aspect that he missed, being
the center of things? How much
of a part was that in his decision
to come back at Misano?
"The attention is equal to
pressure so it depends which
way you see," he answered.
"We are in Italy; I am Italian, and
it is more easy to get involved in
everything and anything. I think
I have enough experience to
avoid this, but you never learn
always how to handle it in every
single moment. After three years
I did not remember that there
was so much stress, but it looks
like there is so much pressure
"IT IS NOT PROPER
MOTOGP—IT IS HALF
WAY, A MOTOGP AND
SUPERBIKE. BUT OF
COURSE I KNOW THAT
EVEN BEFORE THEY
STARTED. SO IT IS
TOUGH BECAUSE ALVARO
[BAUTISTA] IS GOING
VERY FAST, ALMOST ONE
OR TWO SECONDS A
LAP FASTER THAN HIM
[MELANDRI]. YOU DO NOT
EXPECT THIS FROM A
PROFESSIONAL POINT
OF VIEW."
