I got the start I needed and I just rode the best I could without making any major mistakes. This has been a long time coming and I'm just so happy to get my first win and put this JGR team on top of the box." Pourcel wound up with a career- best second place finish thanks to a 2-3 moto finish. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing-backed Frenchman jumped into second at the start of moto one, but gave up the position to RCH/Soaring Eagle/Jimmy Johns Suzuki's Ken Roczen before the end of the lap. Pourcel would soon come under attack from Barcia, as the duo's battle eventually pushed both riders back ahead of Roczen when the German rider started to slow later in the race. Pourcel would hold on to finish sec- ond, with Barcia third, while Dungey took the first moto win some 10 sec- onds ahead of Pourcel. In the second moto, Pourcel battled Yoshimura Suzuki's Blake Baggett for second, but this time he would lose the runner-up slot when Baggett made a last-lap pass on a slippery off-camber. Pourcel's podium finish moved him Alex Martin put in the surprise ride of the day. He passed his brother, Jeremy, for the win in the first 250 moto and just missed out getting the overall victory with a 1-7.
