SUPERBIKE/SUPERSTOCK 1000 MOTOAMERICA AMA/FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROUND 6/JUNE 26-28, 2015 MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK/TOOELE, UTAH P104 mer. But I was able to capitalize on that and get second to Josh. Josh was on it this weekend. He was ripping." In the end, Beaubier's answer to the conundrum at Miller, "I'm going to go back and just get ready for Laguna and put this one out of my head." ON THE VERGE Yoshimura Suzuki's Roger Hayden has been so close to a Superbike win this year he could taste it. But unfortunately for Hayden, it's been just out of his reach. The dice hasn't rolled in his favor. It was more of the same for Hayden at Miller. After riding a distant third from the Factory Yamahas in race one, Hayden was motivated to come back fighting in race two. And fight he did. Hayden kept Hayes in his sights and battled with the four-time Superbike champ until disaster struck the youngest of the famous Hayden brothers. "About six or seven laps to go I dropped a valve or something in the engine and just had no acceleration," Hayden said. "So Josh was just pulling away and then Cam caught me. At that point I was just trying to short shift it. It was getting a little slower and slower and to just make sure I tried to get it to the finish line the best I can." His second podium finish of the day was not enough to ease the disappointment of just being out of reach of a potential win, once again. "Yeah, I thought so, but there was still a lot of racing, six or seven laps," Hayden said about whether he had something for Hayes. "I felt pretty comfortable and I felt like he was starting to slide a little bit. I felt more com- fortable, but you always think that with six laps to go." So more disappointment for Hayden, but he still saw the silver lining. "It was pretty disappointing to have such a strong race in the beginning and then have that happen," he said. "It's part of racing. It seems like it's always something. But I'm going to keep my head down. I'm still lucky to race a motorcycle. Whenever it feels tough, on days like this when things are out of control, I'm [happy that I'm] leaving here Josh Day (00) turned his luck around and won both Superstock 1000 races.
