VOL. 52 ISSUE 25 JUNE 23, 2015 P83 PHOTOGRAPHY BY KIT PALMER K TM didn't forget about its two- strokes for 2016. Not only did KTM's SX-F and XC-F line of motocross and off-road four-strokes get a complete overhaul, so did its 2016 125 and 150 SX two-strokes. Already the fastest 125cc two- stroke motocrosser on the planet, KTM still felt that the 125 SX was due for a change and it certainly got it, as did the 150, which is the same bike except for the larger displacement so it can compete with the 250F four- strokes. All of the changes to the 125 SX have been applied to the 150 SX. Basically, the 125 SX got an all- new motor that was designed to be powerful, compact and light. KTM says the motor is 4.4 pounds lighter than the previous mill. It still utilizes a six-speed transmission with the same ratios as before, but the tranny itself is lighter and narrower. The exhaust system has been tuned specifically for the SX 125 and the SX 150, so they are not exactly the same. The SX 125 and 150 share the same new chromoly steel frame and chassis as the entire SX-F line, which is borrowed from the 2015 250 and 450 SX-F Factory Edition models. The two-strokes also have smaller and lighter subframes and new swing- arms, as compared to the previous Nothing teaches you how to ride motocross better than a 125cc two- stroke, and there is nothing better than the new KTM 125 SX… JUST PIN IT! FASTER, LIGHTER AND BETTER.
