IN THE WIND P34 CAGIVA REBORN? R umors have been flying of late that MV Agusta could be about to revive the historic brand of Cagiva. The talk of seeing Cagiva, once again, making motorcycles started after MV Agusta Executive Vice President Giorgio Girelli told Varese News that discussions regarding the brand's revival had indeed taken place, however, that was where they ended, insisting that there was no plan within the current MV Agusta business model to bring Cagiva back from the ashes. However, bringing Cagiva back to life as an off-road specific ad- venture brand does make sense for MV Agusta. The company is enjoying excellent growth and has a solid injection of funds thanks to selling a 25 percent share of the company to Mercedes-AMG. MV Agusta currently make only road machines and have branched into the touring segment thanks to the new Turismo Veloce 800, and they have long-ago trademarked the name "Elephant," the label of the iconic adventure machine that found fame with races like the original Paris-Dakar event. The original Cagiva Elephant Dakar racers are now the stuff of legend. Could we be seeing a revival of the historic marque? MCALLISTER STAYS ON TOP D efending AMA Supermoto Champion Gage McAllister took top honors at round three of the 2015 AMA Supermoto Cham- pionship at New Hampshire Mo- tor Speedway, June 20. McAllister was quickest in Open Pro pole and followed that up with a win in the first heat race. McAllister's title rival Eric Stump stepped it up and won the second heat race, but McAl- lister would be the rider of the day. The defending champion led every lap of the main with Stump always within striking distance. Stump held on for second place with Dustin Hoff- man finishing in third place. In the AMA National class, defending 2014 class cham- pion Mike Surratt won his first main event of the year to get his defense back on track. Steve Alkyer took second place with Jonathan Carvalho completing the podium in third. In the Pro Lites category, Kenny Troxell took his first ever victory. Nicky Reimer was sec- ond with Wyatt Sperry third. Gage McAllister remains undefeated in '15. PHOTOGRAPHY BY MARTIN HANLON
