WORLD SUPERBIKE
WORLD SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 8/JUNE 21, 2015
MISANO WORLD CIRCUIT "MARCO SIMONCELLI"/MISANO, ITALY
P98
>>CLUZEL THE CRUISE MISSILE
Any rider who sets a new lap record
(a 1:38.239, on lap six) of a 19 lap
World Supersport race is not cruis-
ing his way to a victory. MV Agusta
Reparto Corse's Jules Cluzel was
clearly not easing up at Misano and
he had no opportunity to, as second
place rider PJ Jacobsen on the Core"
Motorsport Thailand Honda was only
1.525 seconds down at the flag.
But in terms of many World Super-
sport races in the past Cluzel had this
one under control.
"We had some luck today so we
have to take that and continue in this
way - and now it is possible," Cluzel
said. "We have to make no mistakes
and we can come back. I am happy
with that race and it was not easy but
I won so I am happy. After Thailand
and Aragon I forgot my chance to win
the championship and just tried to win
races."
The rider he is chasing in the cham-
pionship, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing's
Kenan Sofuoglu had as difficult a race
day as Cluzel had a successful one,
halving his championship advantage.
Fighting with the hometown hero
Lorenzo Zanetti on the MV Agusta
Reparto Corse because he felt his
back end spinning from early in the
race, Sofuoglu fell on the final lap, at
the tight turn four. He got back on,
fishing 11th and lost half of what was a
40-point lead.
He knew raceday may not be the
smoothest but he clearly did not have
the race pace of the MV or Honda at
Misano on the new surface.
Jacobsen, despite suffering with a
degree of arm pump that has affected
his season at times, was a class act at
Misano, but he could not close in on
Cluzel no matter what he tried. Two
races into his Honda career, after doing
the first part of the season on a Kawa-
saki, and two podiums to show for it.
