SUPERBIKE MOTOAMERICA AMA/FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 5/MAY JUNE 12-14, 2015 BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK/LEEDS, ALABAMA P152 That left teammate Josh Hayes and Roger Hayden up front battling for the win. It was setting up to be a nice last-lap duel, but it didn't happen. A couple of riders crashed, there was fluid on the track and the race was red flagged and called complete. The Hayes victory, combined with Beaubier's DNF and zero points (you have to finish two- thirds of the race to score) meant that Beaubier's fairly comfortable lead in the champi- onship was gone. Hayes pulled to within a single point of the series lead. It was good news for the Yoshimura Suzuki duo of Jake Lewis and Hayden, who also moved considerably closer to the series leader after his fall. "Roger [Hayden] was definite- ly good in a couple of sections and I thought I had a couple of sections where I was good," Hayes said after winning race one—his 75th career AMA victory spanning all the classes. "I was struggling to decide how the race was going to play out, how long I was going to be sitting there. The opportunity came Hayes (1) capitalized on Beaubier's mistake, taking the race one win and closing the gap in the title chase.
