CURRY MAKES IT THREE!
A
Pro Sport phenom by round
two, Johnny Curry chalked
up his third consecutive win for
a perfect record in the AMA Pro
Hillclimb series at Freemans-
burg, Pennsylvania. John Koes-
ter took his first Xtreme Class win
of the year and Jay Sallstrom his
first Unlimited victory.
Curry attempted the hill first
and laid down the fastest Pro
Sport ride of the day at 14.908
seconds—a time no one could
touch. Riding last in the order,
Adam Holmes set a 16.2-second
time for second place. Sean Van
Assen upped his game in the
second half, taking third with a
16.878-second ride—his first Pro
Sport podium finish.
Sallstrom broke the 10-sec-
ond barrier first in the Xtreme
Class, cresting in 9.884 sec-
onds. Koester lopped off a
half-second to take the lead and
Libhart stopped the clock at
10.165 seconds for third place.
Libart set the Unlimited Class
pace in the first half at 10. 864
seconds and waited out the sec-
ond half to see if anyone would
best him. He didn't wait long—
Sallstrom, who threw a tire chain
on his first ride, came back with
a 10.015 for the lead. Vinny Nuz-
zolilli nudged Libhart to third by
setting a 10.242 pace. Libhart
rode to defend his earlier posi-
tion but blew his engine in the
process, stopping 30-feet short
of the crest.
Libhart also won the exhibi-
tion Hill-Cross competition in a
side-by-side battle against Koes-
ter and Robby Debusk.
The series heads to Canaan,
New Hampshire for the fourth
round of the season.
