SMITH'S X GAMES
SEND OFF
A
MA Pro Flat Tracker Bryan Smith finally got the chance to
catch up with his friend and newest sponsor Kid Rock. The
pair have been meaning to touch base for awhile, but finally got
the chance before Smith left for Austin, Texas for the inaugural
X Games Harley-Davidson Flat Track event. Smith will repre-
sent two of the Michigan rocker's brands—American Bad Ass
Beer and the Made in Detroit clothing line—for the rest of the
season. Smith did the brands proud, bringing an X Games gold
medal back to Michigan.
JACOBSON
LANDS RIDE;
KAWASAKI
INTERMOTO
FOLDS
T
he Core Motorsport Thai-
land Honda team picked up
PJ Jacobsen for the Portimao
World Supersport round on-
wards; and he brings former
WSS champion Andrew Pitt to
the team as rider guru and neo-
team manager.
The American finished third in
his debut with the new team.
"It was good to get another
podium this year," Jacobson
said. "I wasn't struggling but I
was spinning a little bit and did
not understand really too much
of what was going on as the race
went on. This was my first race
distance on the Honda so it was
good to finish third."
Jacobsen had been riding for
the now defunct Kawasaki In-
termoto team—a result of Team
Principal Josef Kubicek being
posted as missing by the Czech
authorities; his wife fears for his
safety.
With the World Superbike
paddock praying for the safe
return of Kubicek, a well-known
personality in his country, the im-
mediate effects are that the team
has folded, and as the team's
trucks and equipment are under
lock and key, those with an inter-
est in the team have no access
to their material.
Kawasaki, who had supported
the team to an unknown degree,
may have material they need to
reclaim, as may other sponsors
and suppliers.
