CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda—care to make some money, also?" RIP Gilles Vaillancourt Certainly one of the very nicest guys in all of motorcycling has passed away, my great friend, Gil Vaillancourt. Anybody who knew him will agree. Sadly he had been fighting health problems for several years now. I last talked to him April 25, 2015, at the Corsa Moto Clas- sica at Willow Springs where we spent an hour or so in the back of the Works Performance truck. I actually got the impression that he was doing somewhat better, but it was not to be. So sorry to his loyal wife Debbie and the family. Vaya Con Dios, mi amigo. Joe Weinroth Via The Internet Flat Track X Games Glad to see the flat track guys finally getting some love. Maybe the track will be better next year and they can show what they can really do. Tim Eades Via The Internet Yamaha YZ250X Kudos to Yamaha! They're the only Japanese brand to keep a hat in the two-stroke ring. Too bad the other Japanese manufacturers are way too con- servative. Really shows how little they actually think of their customers and the motorcycle riding public in general. Terry Heath Via The Internet Wow! About time. Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda—care to make some money, also? Kevin Hutchinson Via The Internet D-i-n-e-s-e-n Referencing the Archives from Issue 21, Larry Lawrence mis- spelled Mel Dinesen's name when writing about Harry Klinzman. From all accounts, Mel was quite a character and a strong supporter of Califor- nia's AFM club racers. Kevin Smith Via The Internet RC390 Vs. R3 The KTM was built for the track, so it will do better there, but the Yamaha was designed for the street, that's where it makes its money. Tom Roberts Via The Internet The KTM is more than 60 pounds lighter [but] with same horsepower and lots more torque. It would be faster with eight less horsepower. Good luck, Yamaha! Randy Duke Via The Internet Ryan Dungey When Ryan Dungey raced with Ryan Villipotto and James Stewart, Dungey never won a championship, but when they were hurt and not racing he won. Now Eli Tomac is out and guess who is winning? Dungey. Dominick Cittadino Via The Internet How far back was third-place from Dungey when he was chasing Tomac? Everyone can ride a blazing fast pace for the excitement of the fans, until they crash their brains out. It takes smarts to win champion- ships and to stay healthy for the long term. Dungey is just as fast when the conditions are fa- vorable, but when it takes a bit more skill to stay on two wheels and finish, he is smart for riding well within his known limits. That's how you win champion- ships folks! Keith Barnden Via The Internet Letters to the editor can be sent to voices@cyclenews.com.
