>>LIGHTS, CAMERA—NO ACTION?
Chad Reed recently signed a new sponsor, which
has created some controversy.
Reed and video maker 360fly have recently
teamed up, but when Reed was about to take to the
track last week at Colorado, Reed was told that he
could not mount the 360fly camera on his helmet for
the race, because it created a conflict with the series
sponsor—GoPro—among other things. At one point,
Reed threatened not to race.
The AMA rulebook states that the use of "ap-
proved" helmet-mounted cameras are okay, but his
new 360fly is not yet approved due to sponsor con-
flicts and rights to footage. As a result, Reed cannot
run his new camera sponsor's product, but he is still
trying to make it happen.
Reed did not have it on this weekend, but the
company's logo on the chin bar of his helmet is still
there to promote their contractual agreements.
Ken Roczen grabbed his first
moto win of the season.
