ROAD AMERICA SUPERMOTO
R
ound two of the AMA
Supermoto National Cham-
pionship took place during the
MotoAmerica weekend, May
30-31, at Wisconsin's Road
America. California domination
continued as Gage McAllister,
Nicky Reimer and Steve Alkyer
kept their win streaks alive in
their respective classes.
The Pro Open class delivered
an exciting event, with defend-
ing champion Gage McAllister
pulling double duty, racing the
KTM Road Race Cup and AMA
Supermoto in the same day. The
day started good for McAllister,
he won on the KTM, but the
podium celebrations caused him
to be late for qualifying for Su-
permoto. He logged an eighth
place qualifying lap with no
warm-up or practice, and only
one lap to qualify against the
other riders who got seven laps.
McAllister managed to come
back and win his heat, but New
Jersey's Eric Stump, who won
heat one along with the rest of
the field, were ready to win the
main event.
McAllister got the holeshot,
but Dustin Hoffman was locked
to his rear wheel. Hoffman did
not waste anytime to make a
move on McAllister for the lead,
but he could not complete the
pass crashing and nearly taking
McAllister with him. McAllister
would fall back to 10th on lap
one due to the incident. Eric
Stump was their to take advan-
tage of the situation capturing
the lead with Micky Dymond
running second. But, McAllister
was not done yet; he charged
through the field and was the
winner when the checkered flag
flew. Stump held on to second,
Dymond third and Hoffman
charged back to fourth from
16th.
In the Pro Lites class it was
championship leader Reimer
getting out front on lap one and
it looked as if he could make it
two wins in a row, but his new
