BUY SOME
NEW TIRES
Tires are the single most important
thing that ensures not only your
safety on the road but also how
much performance can be gained
from your bike. If you've left your
machine unattended for ages, the
rubber can harden and won't flex as
it should when braking, cornering
and accelerating. You'll never see
a racer worth his salt hit the track
on rubber that's past its sell date
– the same should apply to you on
the road. Oh, and check your tire
pressures regularly.
Gain: More grip, more confidence,
more control. What's not to gain?

ADJUST YOUR
SUSPENSION
Those little clickers on the
shock and fork can do amazing
things to the ride and handling
of your machine but so, so
many riders are scared of
touching them for fear of
messing their bike up. Get your
machine's manual, have a read
and grab your flatblade! Or
better yet, buy and read a copy
of Andrew Trevitt's excellent
book, Sportbike Suspension
Tuning. It was published a few
years ago now and is primarily
focused on sportbikes, but its
teachings are valuable to all
riders.
Gain: Unlocking the Pandora's Box
of your bike's handling capabilities.
