decent laps. I caught a lot of the
field in about two laps, but I just
ran out of time. I feel fortunate
that I was able to finish sixth,
though, and salvage that many
points."
In the meantime, his young
teammate Beaubier capitalized
on the miscue and held off Yo-
shimura Suzuki's Roger Hayden
to his fourth win of the season.
"I knew going into today that
the race was going to be pretty
interesting," Beaubier said. "We
haven't really had much dry time
this weekend. We had one ses-
sion on Friday. So like I said, I
knew it was going to be a tough
race, an interesting race. It was
a bummer to hear he [Hayes]
went down. I'm glad he's all
good."
While Hayden was looking for
that first win of the season, he
took comfort in being able to run
with Beaubier.
"I was staying with him
[Beaubier] and trying to find a
spot where maybe I was better
than him, but one part of the
track he was a little better and
I was a little better in another
spot," Hayden said. "He never
made a mistake so I never had
a chance to get by him. But I'm
really happy with the race be-
cause finally we put up a fight
all the way to the end and it just
wasn't the Josh [Hayes] and
Cam [Beaubier] show out there
in the front."
Hayden's teammate/room-
mate Lewis took home third.
Race two was a bit of déjà
vu at the start—Lewis holeshot-
ted, Hayes soon after took the
lead and it was an early battle
between the Yamaha/Yosh
quartet.
But this time, Hayes would
execute his plan and carry on
with his dominant ways.
"It's always good to bounce
back," Hayes said. "A lot of my
crew are Wisconsinites and all
their family so you want to do
a good job in front of them. I
didn't do such a thing in the
first race. All the hard work
that they put in to be able to
repay them with a win is the
best thing I know to do. I rode
as hard as I could. My bike
worked so well. It was a joy to
ride it. I've had fun riding the
Rookie Jake Lewis (85)
holeshotted both races and
finished on the podium in third.
