P136 40 Years Ago June 3, 1975 Trials was the hot top of the week. We featured trials events from the local scene as well as the world scene. We also tested some of the latest trials bikes on the market, and we also had a four-bike comparison, featuring trials machines from Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda and two from Yamaha… We ran a story about manufacturing motorcycles in the U.S… Giacomo Agostini edged out Phil Read at the German Road Race GP… Heikki Mikkola won the 500cc MX GP in Italy; Brad Lackey wasn't allowed to race for failing to complete enough qualifying laps, even though he had. 30 Years Ago June 5, 1985 We took an inside look at Honda's 32-valve NR500 V-four road racer… Erik Kehoe claimed his first-ever 125cc AMA National MX victory at High Point. In the 250cc class, Jeff Ward and Rick Johnson traded moto wins with Ward com- ing out on top for the overall honors… At the Springfield Mile, Bubba Shobert emerged victorious after a thrilling race, with Ted Boody and Scott Parker finish- ing second and third, respectively… Russell McCoy became the first rider to crest the fa- mous Widomaker hillclimb. Ten riders followed suit that day. 10 Years Ago June 1, 2005 Ben Bostrom got the majority of the cover 10 years ago for winning the Pikes Peak AMA National Superbike… Also getting a piece of the cover was Ricky Carmichael who won the opening round of the AMA outdoor National Moto- cross at Hangtown; Grant Langston won the 125cc class but not without a bit of controversy after taking out Mike Alessi a few turns from the end… Chris Carr chalked up win number 69 at Route 66 Raceway… We tested KTM's first 250 SX-F four-stroke motocrosser. It was their third title in a row… Daryl Beattie found a spot on the cover as well for winning the German Road Race GP and taking over the points lead… David Sadowski won the Sunoco Race Fuels Formula USA round at Road Atlanta… Scott Plessinger won the AMA National Hare Scrambles in Spring Hill, Louisiana… Danny Hamel won the 25th Virginia City Grand Prix.
