VOL. 52 ISSUE 21 MAY 27, 2015 P107 So it is not the case that everybody understands the same things in electronics now? The Honda guy knows what the other guys know? Believe me at the end it is not the electronics; it is the dynamic behavior of the bike under the electronics. This is the problem. If you know this very well then it is quite easy to find out the best possible strategies. The main problem is to understand very well what happens on the bike. After the race in Jerez, Dovizioso said that traction was the main thing to im- prove. Was this only a prob- lem in Jerez? No, this is a problem that we knew we could have had. We knew we could have this issue in braking, when he went straight on, we knew that we could have this kind of problem. We have the software ready with this problem solved, but we just had to test at Mugello before we put it on the bike in a race. And un- fortunately this problem came. In Austin at the Grand Prix we saw that both Ducatis could not return to the box on the last lap and they stopped on track. Why was that? Fuel temperature. We had some cavitation problems. When you closed the gas after the race, the fuel consumption decreased quite a lot, so the temperature on the fuel rails that feed the injectors increased quite a lot, so the fuel tempera- ture increased quite a lot. It was quite hot in Austin. We had noticed this problem in Sepang 2 [test], so we had produced something to solve this problem and we would have liked to put this on the bike for the first time at Jerez. But after we saw this problem in Austin we speeded up this new solution and put it on the bike at Termas [de rio Hondo]. The temperature in Termas was even higher but we had no problems. When we see the two riders you have in MotoGP, their level is very high. But maybe people do not think of them as 'aliens'—the special ones, like Marc Marquez, or Jorge Lorenzo or Valentino Rossi. Do you think that the next stage in the development of Ducati's MotoGP project has to be the signing of one of these kinds of riders? I am very happy with the riders I have at the moment because they are very important for me to develop the bikes in these years, and I believe that they can fight for the championship alongside Lorenzo, Rossi or Marquez. I am really happy with both of them and I am not thinking about anybody else. What do you think Rossi could do now on the new Ducati? I do not know. Frankly speak- ing, in all my life it did not matter who was riding my bike. I don't want to understand if we win because of the rider, or be- cause of the bike. I think I have "BELIEVE ME AT THE END IT IS NOT THE ELECTRONICS; IT IS THE DYNAMIC BEHAVIOR OF THE BIKE UNDER THE ELECTRONICS."
