MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 / MAY 14, 2015 PRAIRIE CITY SVRA / RANCHO CORDOVA, CALIFORNIA P58 remained optimistic. "His [Tomac's] performance was great," Dungey said. "Not to sound cocky, but I think Tomac is as good as he's going to get, and we still have a lot of room to improve. We were just a little off the pace." Little? Dungey also said that his bike's suspension was "way off," not good on a track like this. "After practice we made some changes; the track was moist, then it dried out and they let it [the track] go [unprepped]. As the track dried out, we made changes that didn't work. We will get it dialed in." We will soon find out if Dungey can respond at Glen Helen. FLY 150 Aided by a healthy dose of rain on Thursday evening and cool tem- peratures on race day, the Hangtown track was in great shape but rutted up and, like Dungey said, got rough. Little effort was made to smooth out the track's surface as the day went on, most MX purists wish that all tracks on the National circuit would follow this policy. After all, they say, it's motocross. This year's Hangtown track added a few new dimensions, including a short "half-pipe" section that looked cool but lacked passing opportuni- ties. But the most noticeable addition was the new "Fly 150"—a massive Fly Racewear-sponsored 150-foot step-up triple that only a handful of 450 riders dared tried to clear in one leap, most opting for the safer double in/single out route. Only one 250 rider, Adam Cianciarulo, cleared the entire jump and he did it only once, saying that he did it just for the fans, not because he thought it was faster. The 250s just didn't have the power to clear safely on a regular basis. Halfway into the first lap of the second 250 moto, Martin already had taken over the lead and ran off with the win. A 2-1 gave him the overall victory.
