Rookie Greg Sassaman graced the cover after his win at the fifth round of the
Camel Pro Dirt Track Series. Gaston Rahier won the 125cc Grand Prix of Great
Britain, only after battling with defending World Champion Andre Malherbe in
the second moto. A new made-for-TV documentary about motorcycling starring
Gene Romero, Kenny Roberts and Barry Sheene was announced. We com-
pared Suzuki's "econo-crosser" TM125 with its
new RM125. The TM was slower and cheaper
than the RM, but a good choice for play riding.

We got an exclusive test on the new Honda RTL250S trials bike—one of
the best four-stroke production trials bikes of its time. Rick Johnson took
the overall victory at round three of the 250cc AMA National Motocross
Championship at the new Las Vegas Motocross Park. Johnson topped both
motos after battling with Jeff Ward in the second moto. Gordon Ward won
the Hilltoppers Grand Prix in Rosarito, Mexico. At the final round of Corona
Raceway's Night Motocross, Doug Dubach won the 125cc Pro class.

ago in our Cruiser Special Issue. Rossi celebrated his third victory of the
season at the Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans, France while Mladin and Pichon
each celebrated double victories in their respective championships. Yamaha
announced the launch of a new brand for its cruiser line—Star Motorcycles,
and we test rode the Suzuki M50, one of the brand's new line of "Boulevard"

Our project Yamaha YZ125 landed the cover of Cycle News 20 years ago.
We did a full write-up on the 167cc rocket ship. Dougie Lampkin came away
victorious at the Scottish Six Day Trial. It was the Beta factory riders' sec-
ond win in as many years. We interviewed Tallon Volland, who was a front-
runner in the 1995 250cc Motocross World Championship. Randy Hawkins
won the Little Raccoon Classic—round six of the National Enduro Series
in Wellston, Ohio—which marked his third
consecutive victory at the annual event.
