SUPERBIKE/SUPERSTOCK 1000 MOTOAMERICA AMA/FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROUND 3/MAY 16-17, 2015 VIRGINIA INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY/ALTON, VIRGINIA P110 1000 race one aboard his TOBC Racing Yamaha. Knapp took advantage after two of the lead- ers, Jake Gagne and Josh Day both crashed in the same turn, possibly from oil on the track. Gagne was able to restart after the red flag, Day was not. "I've got to say thanks to the whole TOBC crew who helped me out," Knapp said. "It made a big difference having that group behind me so I could focus on my riding. I got a decent start and was catching Josh Day—I could see them up there. And then the red flag came out and I got another good start. It's pretty tough with the Superbikes out there because obviously they've got some power on the Superstock bikes. Jake Lewis was hard to pass, but I put a pretty hard pass on him and was working on Gagne when coming down the front straightway I saw him check up a little bit. Unfortu- nately he went out because that was shaping up to be a good battle, but something was up with his bike. I'm just really excited with the win and we have the bike handled and run- ning good now. Hopefully we can get up here again." In race two, it was RoadRace Factory Yamaha's Jake Gagne bouncing back from a mechani- cal DNF in race one to take his fourth victory of the season with Yamalube/Westby Racing's Josh Day finishing second after crash- ing out of race one. "After that first race go- ing down I was definitely bummed," said Gagne, who has won four of the six Super- stock 1000 races so far this season. "I just made a little mental error and hit a crack. The crew really worked their butts off to get the bike back out there for the restart; unfor- tunately I couldn't bring it home for them. So to get this win in the second race is awesome. It was a long race and I thought I was all alone and then Lewis came by me, but yeah it was a Taylor Knapp earned his first national win in race one of the Superstock 1000 class.
