He managed to baby the bike to the finish, where he crossed the line with about a minute-and-a- half over Temple, the Ride On Cycle/Moto Playground-backed KTM rider making his first visit to the podium. Layne Michael, on the Ride- MPScom/AMSOIL Honda, finished 30 seconds behind Temple. Ricky Russell (Yamaha) and Trevor Bollinger (KTM) rounded out the top five in the XC2 class. Thomas has opened up a fairly large lead in the champion- ship with 149 points to Michael's 112. Craig DeLong, who was the early leader before suffering a big crash and finishing seventh, is third with 109. In the Women's class, Kacy Martinez (KTM) returned to her winning ways, taking the check- ered flag about two-and-a-half minutes ahead of previous-round winner Jessica Patterson (Yama- ha).
