which probably had something
to do with the choking dust. He
managed to baby the bike to the
finish, where he crossed the
line with about a minute-and-a-
half over Temple, the Ride On
Cycle/Moto Playground-backed
KTM rider making his first visit to
the podium.
Layne Michael, on the Ride-
MPScom/AMSOIL Honda,
finished 30 seconds behind
Temple. Ricky Russell (Yamaha)
and Trevor Bollinger (KTM)
rounded out the top five in the
XC2 class.
Thomas has opened up a
fairly large lead in the champion-
ship with 149 points to Michael's
112. Craig DeLong, who was the
early leader before suffering a
big crash and finishing seventh,
is third with 109.
In the Women's class, Kacy
Martinez (KTM) returned to her
winning ways, taking the check-
ered flag about two-and-a-half
minutes ahead of previous-round
winner Jessica Patterson (Yama-
ha). Brooke Cosner (Husqvarna)
was third. CN
