IN THE WIND P34 DALL'IGNA TALKS RACING SUCCESS L ong-time Aprilia Racing man Gigi Dall'Igna's transition to Ducati as Ducati Corse General Manager has been a pretty suc- cessful one so far. His redesign of the company's MotoGP effort has been competitive from the outset, and we're now seeing Superbike success in the hands of Chaz Davies and Davide Giugliano. Indeed, Davies has been one of only two riders to defeat Rea in a straight fight so far this season. Talking to Cycle News, Dall'Igna explained the com- pany's turn around of fortunes since his arrival in 2014. "I think the organization is one of the most important things in a racing department," he said. "The information has to move at the best speed possible to all the people involved in the project. Now I have changed a little bit the organization of the people. Now the people at the racetrack are leading the people at home. During the race weekend you can learn very well something of the problems of the bike. You can bring this information home and the people at home have to work on this problem, not another strange problem. Then find the possible solution and give to the racetrack people all the information that they need to allow this solution in the best possible way." M otoAmerica has announced the appointment of Dr. Ray- mond Rossi as the new travel- ling medical professional for the fledging series. Rossi has served as the FIM Chief Medical Officer at the World Superbike and MotoGP rounds at Laguna Seca and Miller Motorsports Park, and is looking forward to lending his services to the American racing community. "I have been committed to mo- torcycle medical care for over 20 years," said Rossi. "It is a privi- lege to be given an opportunity to serve this very noble group of athletes. It will be my goal to bring the highest level of medical care to the MotoAmerica riders, both trackside and in the pad- dock. I am grateful to be a part of a new direction for American road racing led by KRAVE, and I applaud their vision." The appointment of Dr. Rossi was seen as an integral part of building a world class champion- ship, according to MotoAmerica President and three-time world champion, Wayne Rainey. "Having Dr. Rossi on board shows a commitment to our racers that we care about their health and safety," said Rainey. "This was something we've al- ways thought to be crucial. Rider safety is paramount and having a doctor there that you know and trust gives everyone in the pad- dock confidence and a level of comfort. Dr. Rossi is that guy." Having a doctor for the cham- pionship has been something that riders have been hoping for in the U.S. superbike series for quite some time. "It's really cool that MotoAmer- ica has stepped up and provided us with the same doctor for ev- ery race who we can develop a relationship with over the course of the year," said Yoshimura Su- zuki's Roger Hayden. "MotoGP, World Superbike, Supercross... they all have the same doctors at every round. They start to know you and overall it's just safer for everybody. It's just another step in the right direction."
