CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "Dungey's performance in Las Vegas was his way of telling Tomac, 'you're not going to beat me even when you're on your A-game.'" Not Fired Up And so it goes. Despite a massive heart, I think we all knew Ryan Villopoto was retired when he said he was retired. Despite all the jewels in [Giuseppe] Luongo's and KHI's coffers, "Villo" hasn't seemed that all fired up to be in the GP series. Add to that it's been two years since he raced outdoors, not mesh- ing with [Gautier] Paulin's old team, and now this injury, I think we can put this "retire- ment tour" to rest. He has proven a topflight American rider can still win GPs despite being out of riding outdoors for several years. It's time for him to come home and leave the GPs and Luongo to the Euros, and Red Bud, Anaheim, and Un- adilla to the AMA riders. Cheryll Green Wurst Via the Internet Let The Outdoors Begin It [the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship] is going to be good with such a great field. Even without Ryan Villopoto and James Stewart, it's a deep lineup of amaz- ing talent. I'm looking to see those guys that didn't have the Supercross season they wanted, or were predicted to have, to come through in the outdoor Nationals. It's sad about Dean Wilson miss- ing the whole series. I think Weston Peick is going to do well, and what good things can't you say about Rodger DeCoster, KTM, Marvin Mus- quin and Ryan Dungey? John A. Stockman Via the Internet Christouphe Pourcel's fitness was questionable while he was racing 250s. I believe his fitness will be an even bigger factor in the 450 class. If Eli Tomac can stay on two wheels, I think he is the favorite. Ryan Dungey (my personal favorite) will be right there. Ken Roczen is an un- known, but he appears to be intimidated by Tomac and may have difficulty dealing with Dungey's extra speed and confidence and Dungey's al- ready well-established fitness. If Roczen chokes, makes mistakes, and gets hurt as in the SX series, he will get left behind. Like I said before, its going to be good. Jim Bunch Via the Internet Eli Tomac would have been my choice for having the most speed, most of the time outdoors, but Ryan Dungey's newfound confidence is very impressive to me. A lot of people were saying that Dungey wasn't laying it on the line during the last couple of Supercross rounds, but I strongly disagree. Dungey's performance in Las Vegas was his way of telling Tomac, "you're not going to beat me even when you're on your A- game." Third place was over 30 seconds behind those two. If that's not a statement, I don't know what is. Tomac's going to win some races especially after the first two or three rounds and when he gets away from the hard California dirt, but I think it's Dungey's time. Tomac will have his time being the younger rider, but I can wait two more years. I hope I am wrong, though. Go Tomac!!!
