IN THE WIND P38 STEWARD BAYLOR TAKES SECOND OMA WIN W hen the dust settled after round two of the Parts Un- limited OMA Nationals series— the Jammer XC at the Splinter Creek Dirt Riders compound near Alton, Illinois—it was Stew- ard Baylor standing on top of the box once again. The KTM/ Fly/Kenda rider used a 2-1 finish in the two-moto OMA format to claim the overall victory ahead of Jimmy Jarrett, who carded a second-place finish on the day. Disappointed by his second- place finish in moto one behind four-time series champion Jimmy Jarrett on the KTM/Moose/Dun- lop machine, Baylor was deter- mined to step it up for moto two. "I was just relaxed and making sure I was following my lines," said Baylor. "I definitely limited my mistakes, and that's the stuff that I'm looking to do for the rest of the year." Baylor's smoothness set him ahead of Jarrett, who battled for second place in moto two and took home second overall. Just three seconds behind Jarrett, Adam Bonneur piloted his Fly Racing/Maxxis-backed KTM to a better second-moto finish to collect the final podium spot ahead of fellow KTM rider Chris Douglas. In the Pro 2 class, it was Duell Murphy who put his Yamaha on top of the podium. Shane Klimek and Kyleer Vance rounded out the Pro 2 podium in second and third, respectively. John Gasso TEAM HERO EBR WITHDRAWS FROM WSBK T wo weeks after American manufacturer EBR filed for receivership, Team Hero EBR has been forced to withdraw from the World Superbike Championship for the immediate future. With the recent bankrupt- cy of EBR and the reprioritizing of efforts by title sponsor Hero, Pegram Racing made the an- nouncement that they were un- able to continue its Team Hero EBR program at this time. In spite of the unfortunate turn of events, the team release stated that Pegram Racing is looking to return to racing very quickly and that they will an- nounce our future plans very soon. "This is a really hard pill for us all at Pegram Racing to swallow, as we always live by the phi- losophy of Never Give Up" said team owner Larry Pegram. "The whole team did a amazing job of improving results from last year and giving some pride back to EBR and Hero. Niccolo Canepa was riding like the Champion he is, he was literally making people's jaws drop at what he was doing with our motorcycle. I am so proud of the job he did. One thing for sure Pegram Racing will be back and it will be sooner than you think." Pegram also wanted to recog- nize the dedicated employees of EBR, who lost their jobs with the bankruptcy. "We have worked closely with them [EBR employees] and not only appreciate how amazing it was to have a true American Superbike to ride, but how intensely hard that small group of employees at EBR worked to build the EBR bikes, and also support our racing program and other racers," said Pegram. "We are hoping they too will return soon. They deserve to con- tinue." Steward Baylor used a 2-1 finish to claim the overall win at the Alton, Illinois OMA National. PHOTOGRAPHY BY JOHN GASSO
